BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT

 

Charles N. Buck was a Philadelphia merchant and served as consul-general of Hamburg to the United States.

 

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

 

These excerpts contain records of commercial life in Philadelphia, the trade in cotton, linen, tobacco, sugar, rice and other commodities between the United States and Germany.  The excerpts also give a good view of the political and economic conditions of the period.  Pages 28-130, 168-181, 185-224, and 257-266 are found on microfilm.
