BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT

Major John White was a road surveyor in Weymouth, Massachusetts. He died in 1816.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

Consists of one item relating to White's surveying work and several items relating to administration of his estate. The first document gives instructions to White for areas to survey and contains a list of taxpayers in Weymouth in 1810. A home-made volume offers a schedule of property in Weymouth, Boston, and other areas that belonged to White's estate along with an inventory of his personal property. A wide range of household furnishing are listed in a room by room fashion. Finally, there are three accounts which list individuals and amounts paid either to or from the estate. The fees for probating the estate are included.

68x62.2 document addressed to Major John White, one of the surveyors of highways for the town of Weymouth, directing him to keep the roads in good repair, May 23, 1810, signed by selectmen John Vinson, Jr., Saml. Fancy(?), and Ebenezer Hunt;

Attached to the document is a list of names and money amounts

List of farm land, wood lots, meadows, salt marshes, swampland, wharf, orchard, pews in J. Norton’s meeting house, store, house, and other real estate in Weymouth, Boston, Quincy, Milton, and Randolph; list of household furniture and personal estate (listed by room: keeping and parlor rooms, several chambers and bed chambers, garret, buttery, kitchen, porch, cellar), also livestock, hay, wagons, tools, etc.
