BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT
M. W. Graham was a wagon maker and cabinet maker in North Canton, Connecticut. Mr. Graham recorded his first name on the first page; it appears to be Miron. The 1850 census lists Myron Graham as a wheelwright and laborer who was born around 1813.
Milo Lee is listed as a farmer in the 1850 census. Adelbert Graham is listed as a farmer in the 1900 census.
SCOPE AND CONTENT
The majority of the volume is devoted to Graham's account with Milo Lee from 1844 to 1849. Graham's work for Lee included turning bed posts, making two bedsteads, five days of framing, altering a cart body, work on shafts, repairing a wagon, making a trunk, making four blinds, finishing a cart body, work on gun boxes, and making one sleigh, two wash stands, and a set of wheels. In exchange, Lee provided Graham with such items as paint, nails, boards, knobs, seeds, and credits at a store. Also includes a cold remedy.
From Sept. 10 to Dec. 8, 1877, the volume was used by Myron's son Adelbert to record daily activities that were agricultural in nature. He mentions having a tooth pulled, laying pipes, shingling his house, and attending a cattle show, all in addition to farm work. He mentions a tan yard as well. He sometimes helped his wife Ida, who gave birth on October 23.
