BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT

John Lambert was a ship joiner in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From 1808 to 1809 he was in the partnership of Davis & Lambert. In 1812, he moved to Chester, Pa.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

Includes entries for Davis & Lambert joiners' work from 1808 to 1809; Lambert's minutes of employment with Dr. Strong for 1810; a daily record of Lambert's work for various individuals from 1810 to 1814; and miscellaneous accounts dating to 1815. Lambert performed such tasks as making mantels, building platforms with rails, repairing rudders, constructing doors and shelves, whitewashing, and other carpentry work. Laid in is a contract between Harwell Carver and Lambert for the sale of property in Pittsford, New York, on Sept. 29, 1854 with receipts for payment of principal and interest from 1855 to 1857.
