BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT

This volume was kept by an unidentified tinsmith in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He may have been a Quaker.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

Records debits and credits accrued for tinsmithing, as well as some general store activity and specific mentions of ceramic and Brittania ware sales. Types of objects listed include bowls, dust pans, cake chests, brooms, spoons, lamps, stove pipes, pots and pans, plates, a stone china tea set, and dippers. Amounts paid to someone for cleaning are recorded. The keeper also noted soldering and mending boilers and furnaces. The city of New Bedford was charged for spittoons for Engine Company no. 2.

The volume bears the stationers label of Perce & Parsons, cheap books and newspaper depot, New Bedford.
