BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT

 

Elisha Foord was a merchant in Marshfield, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.

 

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

 

Consists of a bound account book kept from 1758 to 1766 and miscellaneous receipts, bills, and accounts that record objects purchased and sold by Foord, including textile fabrics, ribbon, lace, buttons, thread, and other dressmaking materials, earthenware, handkerchiefs, snuff boxes, Irish linen, rum, sugar, molasses, etc.  He purchased many of the products from Boston merchants.  Foord also recorded amounts paid for ship supplies and a few of the bills are addressed to Capt. Foord, suggesting that he may have been involved in shipping.
