Scrapbook was assembled by an unknown person.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

Contains lithographs and engravings of hardware store fronts primarily located in Peoria, Illinois; Detroit, Michigan; Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota; St. Louis, Missouri; Buffalo, New York; Cleveland, Ohio; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They appear to have been clipped from billheads and letterheads. A few of the depictions include store interiors as well as exteriors. Horses and carriages, trolleys, and people standing in front of the buildings are incorporated in many of the views. Also included is a cross-sectional illustration of the interior of the McIntosh-Huntington Co. Hardware Building lithographed by W.J. Morgan & Co. A handwritten list of hardware dealers and other firms represented in the scrapbook is laid in.
