BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT

William B. Geyer operated a leather store at the southwest corner of 3rd and Lombard Streets in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and had properties elsewhere in Philadelphia, including the northwest corner of 7th and Shippen Streets in the Moyamensing area.  He had at least two children, a daughter named Catherine and a son named John.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

Receipt book contains signed receipts for taxes, rents, brick work, plumbing, painting, paper hanging, privy cleaning, gas, and water charges.  Also includes records of payments of tuition for his daughter and son, repairs to a sofa, a kitchen range, an annuity to Cath Herman, etc.  Many of the tax payments and much of the work was done on buildings being built or repaired for Geyer, not for his business or home, but rather buildings for rent or sale.  Geyer paid some of his bills with shoes.
