SCOPE AND CONTENT
An
artificial and still growing collection of broadsides relating to a wide range
of subjects, but which do not advertise any products (advertisements are in
Col. 214). Most of the broadsides are from the mid-Atlantic and New England
states, with a few from Europe and other parts of the United States. Among the
topics covered are slavery, temperance, government and taxes, railroads, the
visit of the Marquis de Lafayette to New York City, fire departments, magic
tricks, insurance, post offices, taverns, dance societies, the Bunker Hill
Monument, religion, turnpikes, poetry (probably songs), recreational
activities, slide rules, and others.
ORGANIZATION
Arranged by
size and then in accession number order.
LANGUAGE OF MATERIALS
The materials are primarily in English,
but also in German and Latin.
RESTRICTIONS ON ACCESS
