BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT

 

Daniel Plumer was a constable in Rockingham County, New Hampshire at the turn of the 19th century.

 

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

 

This collection contains receipts addressed to constable Daniel Plumer between 1800-1804 for items seized by writs of attachment.  Plumer seized the property of a person to secure reimbursement of a debt owed to a plaintiff.  The receipts indicate parties involved, specific property to be forfeited, and the value of the property.  Items mentioned include beds and a four-foot table, among other furniture; bedding; a cutting machine; and livestock, including sheep, horses, oxen, cows, and steers.

.1         Daniel Robie received beds and bedding, pewter platters and plates, basins, a keg of rum, attachment on a writ in Stevens Smith vs. Francis Hodgkins, Raymond, [N.H.],  April 19, 1800.

.2         Joseph Peaslee (or Peasley) received beds and bedding, high case of drawers, and hay, attachment on a writ in Peasley vs. Stevens Smith, n.p., Nov. 4, 1800.

.3         Jacob Cilley received one feather bed, two coverlets, a quilt, two blankets, a bedstead and bed rope, a chest of drawers, a large table, a light stand, a surtour, and all the furniture belonging to Samuel Thompson, by writ of attachment in Levi Towle vs.. Saml. Thompson, Nottingham, Dec. 29, 1800.

.4         Joseph Dunell(?) received "one bed and bedding" by writ of attachment in William Plumer against Benj. Kelley, Stratham, Feb. 4, 1801.

.5         statement from John Parker, F.(?) B. Eastham has attached household furniture in a writ of attachment Josiah Adams vs. Brad F. Johnson; “if said Adams relinguishes his attachment…, I agree to deliver said property to Danl. Plumer…” who holds a writ of attachment in another case involving Johnson, n.p., Dec. 7, 1801

.12       Jonathan Worthen received two cows and a calf in writ of attachment in Jona. Worthen vs. Jacob Worthen, Candia, August 21st, 1801.

.13          Richd. Hitton(?) received a mare in writ of attachment in Samuel Plumer, Jr,. vs. Joseph. L. Goodwin, n.p., Dec. 18, 1801.

.14       Enoch Coffin received a yoke of oxen taken in an attachment in Nathan Batchelder vs. Simeon Robinson, Epping, June 16th 1802.

.15       Jeremiah Sanborn received steers and cows in writ of attachment in John Melcher vs. Ebenezer French, July 20, 1802.

.16           Tobias Fernald received a horse in writ of attachment in Josiah Tilton vs. Simeon Robinson , n.p., July 20th 1802.

.17       Eliphalet Drake received cows, steers, and a heifer in writ of attachment in George Bracket against Thomas Drake, Chichester, Dec. 17, 1802.
