BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT

 

Samuel and William Black were possibly tobacco merchants who worked in various parts of Fairfield County, Ohio, during the mid 19th century.

 

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

 

This small collection of bills and receipts documents purchases made by Samuel and William Black between 1823-1878.  Items mentioned include magazine subscriptions, tobacco, real estate, food and beverages, hardware, schooling and books, as well as such dry goods as muslin, silk, and calico.

.3         receipt, Samuel Black paid or sold tobacco to I. & J.H. Lyons(?) [The person who prepared the index read the name as Isaacs], West Rushville, February 17, 1827
