BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT

 

R. Hoe & Co. were machinists, press makers, and saw makers working in the mid 19th century.  They had two offices, one at 29 +31 Gold St. in New York City, and the other on Foundry  St. in Boston, Massachusetts.

 

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

 

This collection contains letters and receipts between R. Hoe & Co. and its customers.  Most correspondence concerns orders, shipping, and payment of goods.  Items mentioned include Eagle gang saws, gunning or riffling machines, hammers, springs, and planers.  Some items were at one time possibly glued into a letter book and then torn out.  A very few items have printed billheads.
