SCOPE AND CONTENT

The engravings in this collection were removed from various novels printed between 1779 and 1799.  Most have the same border and all have captions.  Except for eight of them, the illustrations were published by Harrison & Co, but have different illustrators and engravers.  All were used to illustrate scenes of such well-known stories as Robinson Crusoe, Gulliver's Travels, Don Quixote, Pamela, Clarissa, and Arabian Nights.  There are some duplicates and triplicates.  The illustrations show late 18th century English costume and room interiors.

ORGANIZATION
