SCOPE AND CONTENT
This
artificial and still open collection consists of invitations; dance cards; and
tickets for dances, social events, dramatic performances, and educational
lectures. Many are illustrated, some in
color, often with allegorical figures and symbols of societies and
organizations. While some date from the
late 18th century, the majority are from the mid-19th century. Most are from New England and the Middle
Atlantic States.
