BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT

 

George deForest Lord was the husband of Ruth Ellen du Pont, younger daughter of Henry Francis du Pont.   He was a B-25 pilot during WWII and later received his Ph.D. from Yale University where he was a professor in the English department.

 

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

 

This collection consists of correspondence such as condolences and congratulations, corporate records dealing with real estate, and banking.

 

 

ORGANIZATION

 

Collection is arranged in four series and within the box, arranged alphabetically by folder title.  Series 2 holds corporate records such as real estate titles; series 3 holds correspondence; series 6 contains a gold cigarette case and series 8 holds publications.  Series 1, 4, 5, and 7 are not represented.
