BIOGRAPHICAL STATEMENT

 

Mary Pauline Foster was born in Lakeland, New York. On July 15, 1874, she married Henry Algernon du Pont. Their two surviving children were Louise Evelina du Pont and Henry Francis du Pont. She was interested in music, religion, and genealogy.

 

 

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

 

This collection contains invoices, and materials relating to stocks and securities transactions, correspondence to family and friends, books, social forms, recipes, photographs and a botanical scrapbook

 

 

 

ORGANIZATION

 

Collection is arranged in 5 series: series 2 contains corporate records; series 3 is correspondence; series 5 contains original manuscripts; series 8 holds publications such as books, and series 9 has various social forms.

 

 

 

PROVENANCE

 

Collection is owned by the Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum.  It was assembled over years, from 1969-1976 by transfers and gifts from various sources: in 1969, from the clerical division of the Wilmington, DE office of Henry Francis du Pont; in 1971 from the main museum building and H.F. du Pont; in 1974 from the Gray Building and Coach House; and in 1976 from the main museum building.
