The materials in this collection could not be identified as belonging to a specific person or record group, but they are probably related to the du Pont family.

 

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT

 

Collection contains unidentified photographs, correspondence, architectural drawings, a poem, greeting cards, and objects, including a botanical scrapbook.

 

 

ORGANIZATION

 

Collection is arranged in five series and within each box, folders are arranged alphabetically by folder title.  Series 1 contains architectural drawings; series 3 holds correspondence; series 5 original manuscripts; series 6 objects; series 7 photographs.  Series 2, 4, 8, 9, 10, and 11 are not represented.  The original finding aid to the collection, done in MSAccess, appears at the end of this finding aid.

 

 

PROVENANCE

 

Collection is owned by the Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum, but housed at Hagley Museum and Library.  It was assembled over years, from 1969-1978 by transfers from various sources: in 1969, from the H.F. du Pont House; in 1970, 1972-1975, from the main museum building; in 1979, from the main museum building and the office of the properties and gardens divisions.
